GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-It's been one month since 4-year-old Gabriel Castillo Jr. was hit by a car while sledding at Richmond Park in Grand Rapids.
His sled veered off to the right and on to Richmond Street. The car that struck him never stopped.
Gabriel continues to amaze even his own doctors, and went home ten days after the accident that gave him with broken ribs, a ruptured spleen and a concussion. We caught up with him at his home Wednesday. His mother Sarah Alflen told us the only discomfort he's having is from his still-healing collarbone.
The next hurdle for Gabriel is to return to pre-school, which may happen within the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, the suspected driver that hit him, 23 year old Kevin Witte of Walker, was recently bound over for Circuit Court. He's facing one charge of failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident.
