GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- The John Ball Zoo is set to open for the 2015 season on March 1, but Tuesday zoo officials were talking about the next quarter century as they laid out their 25 year master plan to the Kent County Board of Commissioners.

Some of the plans include a new black bear exhibit above the entrance, a tree-top lemur exhibit, and a year round indoor-outdoor sting ray lagoon would replace the one now that's only open from May until September.

The zoo also hopes to add a children's discovery zone, a conservation education center, additional behind the scenes space for the animals, updating the entire zoo to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and improved restrooms and food stands.
