SAN DIEGO, Calif — The Detroit Tigers Thursday acquired outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for starting pitcher Rick Porcello. Cespedes, 26, hit .260 with 22 home runs and 100 rbi last season with the Athletics and Red Sox.
In the Cespedes deal, Detroit also received right-handed relief pitcher Alex Wilson and left-handed pitching prospect Gabe Speier.
Also on Thursday, the Tigers sent infielder Eugenio Suarez and right-handed pitcher Jonathon Crawford to the Cincinnati Reds for right-handed pitcher Alfredo Simon. Simon, 33, was 15-10 with a 3.44 ERA in 32 games started with the Reds last year.
