KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Three young people who were killed when an Amtrak train hit their vanTuesday night have been identified and their names released by the Michigan State Police.
The driver was identified as Joshua Cartwright, 21, and the passengers were Justin Mastin, 19, and Ashley Melson, 20.
All were from Kalamazoo.
The van was driven around vehicles stopped at the railroad crossing gate, though all gates, bells and lights were working, said MSP.
None of the 120 passengers on the train were hurt.
