WALKER, Mich. — A lot of drivers were late Tuesday morning due to traffic jams caused by a collision involving a semi and another vehicle.
The semi jack-knifed and the crash blocked the ramp from eastbound I-96 to southbound US-131.
Both expressways were backed up. Eastbound I-96 was backed up to Bristol Avenue, and drivers on Alpine Avenue who were used to getting onto the freeway were delayed. US-131 was backed up from the merge with I-96.
To keep drivers from entering eastbound I-96, the ramp from Alpine Avenue to eastbound I-96 was also closed.
The crash was first reported around 5:50 a.m. The driver of the vehicle was freed from the wreckage around 6:45 a.m.
The condition of the driver removed from the vehicle was unknown.
One lane on the ramp was reopened shortly before 9 a.m. The ramp was completely opened shortly after 10 a.m.
