BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman’s body was recovered from a field east of Benton Harbon, and investigators have learned that the woman had died of an overdose in an apartment earlier.

The body was reported to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office on October 7 and found in a remote area of Benton Township. An autopsy showed there were no signs of assault.

She was identified as Taylor Elzey. A report from the sheriff’s office did not give an age or hometown.

The woman is believed to have overdosed on drugs and died in an apartment in Hagar Township north of Benton Harbor. Her body when then moved by someone and left in the field.

Though an autopsy has been performed, toxicology results will not be available for up to three weeks.
