KENT CITY, Mich. — A motorcycle rider was killed in a crash with another vehicle Tuesday morning on M-46/17 Mile Road.
The crash took place around 6 a.m. on M-46 near Barber Creek Avenue west of Sparta Avenue.
As related by Michigan State Police, Cody Jerls, 19, drove his car into the path of the westbound motorcycle as he tried to turn into a driveway. The rider, 56-year-old Thomas Clemens of Rockford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was closed between Sparta Avenue and Barber Creek during the investigation, which lasted through most of the morning commute.
