KENTWOOD, Mich., (July 7, 2014) A week after getting the keys to their new home, Dan Peterson and Jacqueline St. Amour and dealing with the aftermath of Sunday’s storms. Their home on Brooklyn Avenue suffered some damage after a tree came crashing down on the roof. Most of the trees in their yard were also toppled over.

“I could not believe it,” said St. Amour as she surveyed the damage Monday morning. “I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life.”

Peterson said the pair is still in the process of unpacking and moving items into the home. Now, clean-up is the priority.

“It’s a disaster all over,” he told FOX 17 News. “Shock, still in shock. Can’t believe it. Why?”

It’s not clear if the couple had already obtained homeowners insurance by the time the storms hit.
