Pedestrian Hit by Train in Galesburg

Pedestrian Train AccidentGALESBURG, Mich. (June 30, 2014) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that a pedestrian was struck by an Amtrak train in Galesburg Monday.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Battle Creek Street and Burgess Drive.

According to Galesburg Police, a 16-year-old male was walking his bike across the tracks when he was hit by the train.  The victim was killed in the accident.

Officers are calling it an unfortunate accident at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.  The victim’s identity is not being released.
