Holland Police Respond Quickly To Robbery But Find Clerk Delayed Calling 911

HOLLAND, Mich. (May 30, 2014) — Officers arrived only minutes after being dispatched on a report of a robbery at a gas station Thursday night, but they found the thief had a 15-minute head start because the clerk called management before calling 911, said the Holland Public Safety Department.

Police were sent to the station at 1149 S. Washington Avenue at 10:58 p.m., and a K-9 unit arrive minutes later. The dog was unable to locate the suspect, who had gotten some cash and fled west.

The robber was described as an Hispanic man with a thin to average build, between 5’7″ and 5’9″, wearing white tennis shoes and a dark color hooded sweatshirt with a checked or plaid pattern.

Surveillance photos are being reviewed to see if they will be of any help.
