ALLENDALE, Mich (April 12, 2014) — Spring football has come to an end for the Grand Valley State football team. The Lakers held their annual spring game on Saturday.
GVSU honored the late Jamie Hosford at the game. Hosford, who died of cancer in March, won 12 letters as an athlete at Grand Valley State. Hosford’s family was on hand for the game and the Laker players wore jersey number 32 in his honor.
This years spring football was much different than 2013. While there were some injuries for the Lakers to deal with, like running back Mike Ratay who is recovering from ACL surgery, GVSU had far more healthy bodies this season. The healthy, included starting quarterback Heath Parling who missed the spring last year after knee surgery.
