MONTAGUE, Mich.- Towing companies are working around the clock pulling vehicles from the snow during this winter storm.
Eagle Towing says their phones have been ringing off the hook with vehicles slid off the roads.
Their tow truck drivers are bundles up from head to toe, knowing any exposed skin is a danger in these sub-zero temperatures.
Driver Dan Davis says the cold feels like being smacked in the face then pinched.
He says drivers are traveling too fast for conditions.
“I just did a circle around the block and I had five calls within a five-mile circle,” Davis said.
These temperatures are tough on the tow trucks, too. On Monday, three of Eagle Towing’s trucks wound up in the shop.
Davis says it’s so cold, steel becomes brittle and can snap.
He offers the same advice police do, which is to stay off the roads unless you absolutely have to go somewhere.
