WHITE LAKE, Mich. — About 40 vehicles have been involved in crashes along a stretch of US-31 in Muskegon County, according to the Michigan State Police Rockford post.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed south of White Lake Road. Traffic was diverted onto White Lake Road and returned to the expressway at Russell Road. The highway was reopened around noon.
One Muskegon County deputy was injured but is expected to recover. It’s not known yet if the deputy was working a crash on in transit elsewhere.
Carrie Newberg of Ludington took to her Facebook page to post about the crash. She said, “I was involved in the accident. It was like bumper cars slamming into one another. They are clearing the road now. They have us sitting in fire trucks warming up while we wait. Please be careful on the roads people!”
