Thousands Wake Up Without Power

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Power outages from a windy night hit Kalamazoo County the worst, with more than 4,000 customers left without electricity as of 6 a.m. Friday. That number had dropped to under 1,000 by 7 a.m.

Other areas of Kent and Ionia counties were also hit with widespread outages. But power was restored to many places by 7 a.m.

Number of Consumers Power customers in outage ages by county (as of 7 a.m.):

  • Kent: 848
  • Ionia: 830
  • Barry: 636
  • Montcalm: 165
  • Calhoun: 65
  • Ottawa: 54
