WEST MICHIGAN — Rain showers continue to move across the state Saturday as an exiting system will usher in cooler temperatures and westerly winds. Westerly winds this morning will funnel cool air over a warm lake creating lake-enhanced rain showers throughout the day today. Areas along the Lakeshore could hear some rumbles of thunder later on today and with so much lake-induced instability, weak waterspouts could be possible on Lake Michigan.
Conditions should dry out just in time for the Grand Rapids Marathon Sunday morning, however temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 30’s by sunrise making for a chilly morning. Warm air however moves back in but only temporarily for the afternoon as the rain chances move out of West Michigan. Rain chances return on Monday as another reenforcing shot of cold air brings cooler temperatures and rain chances.
Cooler and more unstable weather will stick around through next week as temperatures fall below average.
