GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Just a week after one ramp at the junction of US-131 and I-196 opened, another ramp closed Monday morning.
The ramp from westbound I-196 to northbound US-131 closed at 5 a.m. Monday and will remain closed until 9 p.m. Thursday, October 2.
Just a week before, the ramp from eastbound I-196 to northbound US-131, which had been closed since April, reopened. That ramp is critical to the detour this week as laid out by the Michigan Department of Transportation:
- Continue west on I-196 and exit at Lane Avenue.
- Turn left under the expressway, then turn left onto the ramp to eastbound I-196.
- Exit eastbound I-196 on the ramp to northbound US-131. The ramp is off the left lane.
