GRAND RAPIDS, Mich– We’re less than 24 hours into the fifth year of ArtPrize, and already more than 18,000 votes have been cast.

More than 1,500 pieces are now set up throughout a three square mile area of downtown Grand Rapids, along with Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

People are voting through texting, the smartphone app, or by visiting the website once they get home. Registration is required.

Public relations director Brian Burch said this is the week to simply have fun and enjoy the busy downtown area. “Grand Rapids comes alive during ArtPrize, and that’s kind of the benefit of what’s happening,” Burch said.

At stake for the winners: their share of more than $500,000.
