DECATUR, Mich. — A Michigan State Police officer involved in a crash on August 19 has died.
Motor Carrier Officer Dennis Myers of the Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post was removed from life support Tuesday morning, according to MSP.
“He always had that great, upbeat sense of humor and personality,” Lt. Dale Hinz said. “He has the office right next to mine and he would always come in with his boisterous laugh and brighten everybodies day. He always made us laugh and smile so that’s going to missed around here.”
Myers was married and had two sons, ages 9 and 11. The family had organs donated through Gift of Life.
In 2010, Myers was named Michigan StatePolice Motor Carrier Officer of the Year by the Michigan Trucking Association, and was a 12-year veteran of MSP.
“Obviously he’s got the two young sons that obviously are going to be without now a dad so we’re going to do what we can around here to make sure we support that family,” Hinz said.
A website has been established for donations in Dennis’ memory to assist with final expenses and for the college funds of Dennis’ two sons.
