KENTWOOD, Mich. — A 63-year-old bicycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning in a collision with a van at 60th Street and Division Avenue.
The incident occurred around 9:25 a.m. when a van driven by 22-Year old Jonathan Biel went to turn north on Division Street from eastbound 60th Street. The bicyclist 63-Year old Terry Lenardson was traveling southbound on the sidewalk. As the driver of the van began making a right turn on the red signal, the bicyclist entered the crosswalk and the two collided.
The rider, from Gaines Township, hit the front of the van, and the van then ran over the rider.
No citations had been issued this early in the investigation, said Kentwood Police Capt. Richard Roberts.
