NUNICA, Mich. — Drivers will still have to deal with lane and ramp closures in the I-96 interchange project at 112th Avenue and at M-104, but there are changes.
Since the beginning of work in the area this year, westbound drivers have known to stay in the right lane at 112th Street if they wanted to exit and head to Grand Haven and Spring Lake, since the M-104 exit is closed. The left lane continued on as a single lane through the end of the project around Apple Drive.
That’s the same, except now westbound traffic shifts over to the newly-finished eastbound pavement.
Drivers are eastbound I-96 will now stay on the eastbound pavement in a single lane, but now there is a new exit to M-104 that allows access to Grand Haven and Spring Lake, something previously unavailable to eastbound drivers.
The M-104 eastbound ramp to eastbound I-96 will remain open during this stage. Eastbound M-104 will be closed under I-96.
When these changes in the project configuration are complete this week, they will remain in place until the project is finished in November.
