WEST MICHIGAN — After experiencing heat indices last week between 95 and 100 degrees, this week’s weather will feature much more normal temperatures with a few chances for a shower or thunderstorm. However, the attached photo shows the six to 10 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center is for below normal temperatures.
The big change coming is the result of a trough that will develop in the polar jet stream over the Great Lakes. That will allow Michigan to be brushed with below normal temps and cooler air in to the extended forecast picture.
The eight to 14 day outlook also shows below normal temps. Click hereto see the map. Most of the western half of the nation is currently under some type of drought. Click hereto see the U.S. Drought Monitor.
While it’s not impossible to top the temperatures and heat we just experienced, it’s unlikely. The six-day spread and heat wave of 2013 will likely not be surpassed in August. Get the complete West Michigan forecast at www.fox17online.com/weather.
