WEST MICHIGAN — While we saw a few showers roll through the area mid-day Monday, more potent storms may occur late Tuesday afternoon, Tuesday evening, and/or Tuesday night.
The attached snapshot is from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) in Norman, Oklahoma. All of West Michigan is in a “slight risk” for the possibilty of severe storms Tuesday. The primary threat is strong damaging winds of 60 mph or greater. To a lesser degree, large hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
The atmosphere is certainly filled with ample moisture…you can fill the humidity in the air. That means any storms that come through will also have the potential of creating heavy rain. A low pressure area and cold front are slated to swing through the state Wednesday morning, which will sweep most of the precipitation and cloudiness off to the east.
A cooler, drier air mass will filter in later Wednesday. High pressure building in to the Great Lakes will provide tranquil weather with abundant sunshine from Thursday through Sunday. Get the complete West Michigan forecast…including radar at www.fox17online.com/weather.
