WEST MICHIGAN — It’s not blazing hot by July standards in Michigan, but mid 80s with dew point temperatures (a measure of moisture in the air) in the mid 60s makes it a bit uncomfortable. It will continue for the next few days!
We’ll have the chance at picking up a few showers or thunderstorms Sunday and Monday, with a better chance for more widespread prolonged rain Tuesday night in to the first half of Wednesday as a frontal system slides through the state. That’s also the best time from for the possibility of severe weather too.
Once the frontal system moves east, a somewhat cooler, drier air mass will filter in to the Great Lakes with temps in the upper 70s/near 80 by Thursday and Friday. There seem to be many folks complaining (at least to the weatherman) that this summer has been a little disappointing. It just hasn’t met people’s standards due to more clouds and cooler-than-normal temps. And surfers? Forget it! They’ve had little/no opportunity to do much of that (thus far) as winds have typically been on the calmer side with very little wave action.
It will be interesting to see how the second part of our summer season goes. It’s sad to think the days are already getting shorter and we’ve already seen July 4th come and go. The beautiful attached photo was sent in by one of our regular contributors, Vickie Grant of Hastings. It was snapped on Saturday of Hall Lake in Barry County.
