BATTLE CREEK, Mich — Austin Batka did not allow a hit for the 1st 6 innings Saturday and pitched a complete game allowing just 2 hits as Grand Rapids Christian beat Richmond 3-0 Saturday to claim their 2nd consecutive division 2 state championship.
Tyler Boyd got the Eagles on the board with a perfectly executed safety sqeeze in the 2nd inning. Christian added single runs in the 5th and 6th innings, the last of which came on a sacrifice fly from Batka.
GR Chrsitian started the season 6-12 and won 13 of their final 16 games including winning the final 7 to claim the title.
