WEST MICHIGAN – Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday as a warm front stays poised just off to our south and west. The front will be the focal point for rain and thunderstorms to develop off to the west, then ride along the front and drop southeast in to southern lower Michigan.
The attached snapshot is from the Storm Prediction Center for Wednesday morning through Wednesday night. While areas basically along and south of I96 are in a “slight” risk for severe weather, the best chance for severe storms remains more along and south of the I94 corridor. The primary threat would be strong damaging winds and the potential for some heavy rain.
Note also that northern Indiana has been placed in a “moderate” risk with a higher probability of severe weather occurring there as the storms dive south and east. Make sure to stay tuned to later forecast or check in at www.fox17online.com/weather. We are expecting a round of storms in the morning on Wednesday, and another round in the afternoon/evening which would carry the bigger threat for severe weather.
