Beloved Restaurateur Marie Catrib Dies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Marie Catrib, a restaurant fixture in the East Hills section of the city, has died of ovarian cancer at the age of 65.

Family members told FOX 17 the owner of the popular Marie Catrib’s restaurant passed away Wednesday. They said Marie was such a private person, there will be no funeral or wake.

A native of Lebanon, Catrib lived in Flint, the Upper Peninsula and North Carolina while learning her craft as a pastry chef.

She and her business were closely associated with the local food movement and sustainability.
