NORTON SHORES, Mich. – The love of fishing has turned into more than a hobby for a Muskegon area couple. Amber Mae and husband Eric Petersen are the proud owners of a store called The Fish Monger’s Wife,2127 West Sherman Blvd., Norton Shores.
They started by selling at the seasonal market, and then the Petersens obtained the former Get Planted Greenhouse. The 1,500 square foot space has been converted into a fish/seafood processing room and smokehouse. The fresh fish is wild, like White Fish and Lake Erie Yellow Perch is caught and purchased whenever possible right from the fishermen, the Petersen’s said.
Amber had a background in retail, and Eric’s family had been fishing since the 1920s. It was a perfect match.
Along with the retail store, you can find The Fish Monger’s Wife at Grand Rapids and Muskegon Farmer’s Markets. Click here to find the hours. For more information, you can also call (231)755-1600.
