MUSKEGON, Mich. — A judge has sentence Paul Osborn to 44 to 70 years in prison for shooting Muskegon Police Sgt. Monica Shirey last December.

Muskegon Circuit Court Judge Timothy Hicks pronounced sentence Friday morning. The same judge convicted Osborne after a bench trial where a judge hears a case instead of a jury.

Osborn was arrested after beating his wife, shooting a neighbor in the leg, and then shooting Sgt. Shirey as officers looked for him.

The incident took place in Cedar Creek Township in Muskegon County.
