GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The flooding story has been a big distraction, but the Michigan Department of Transportation and county road commissions have managed to keep focused on planned road repairs.
New lane closures and construction closings have popped up this week. Here’s a review:
US-131 north of I-196:
- Left lane northbound closed at I-196, with two lanes instead of three to Ann Street
- Traffic shifts from the right side of the northbound lanes to the left side just south of Leonard Street (watch for confused drivers and slowdowns, especially in the afternoon commute)
- Ramp from Leonard Street to northbound US-131 closed through September
I-196 at Market Avenue and the Grand River:
- Westbound, the left lane will close Tuesday night and will remain closed through Monday, April 29
- Eastbound, the left lane will be closed only at night through the end of the week
- All ramps to and from Market Avenue are closed due to flooding
