The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is looking for a suspect following a bank robbery Friday morning.

Detectives say it happened at the Fifth Third Bank at 4109 Portage Road around 10:10 a.m.

The suspect was armed with a silver handgun and took some cash from a clerk, then ran from the bank heading northbound.

Police say a red die-pack that was in the money exploded shortly after the suspect ran out.

A K-9 unit was brought to the scene, but was unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a male approximately 65 to 70 years of age.  He’s 5’6″, 140 pounds with no facial hair and “bad teeth”.  He was last seen wearing a navy blue stocking cap, green nylon zip-up jacket and black pants.  He was also wearing rose-tinted glasses.

Police believe the suspect will also have red die on his body and clothing from the die-pack.

Public Safety is requesting anyone with information about this crime to contact the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety at 337-8994, the Criminal Investigation Division at 337-8139, or Silent Observer at 343-2100.
