KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A crash shut down M-44/Belding Road between Egypt Valley Avenue and Blakely Avenue and left three people hurt Thursday morning.

Not long afterward, the intersection of Whitneyville Avenue and 100th Street was shut down by a crash that injured three people and damaged the traffic light.

One of the vehicles in the M-44 crash was a school bus, but none of the children on the bus was hurt.

Calls on the M-44 crash first went out shortly before 8 a.m. First reports indicated one person was trapped in one of the vehicles.

About 30 minutes after the crash, a Rockford Public Schools bus arrived to take on the students and get them to school.

In the Whitneyville Avenue crash, one person was taken to the hospital, and two others were treated at the scene. One of the vehicles careened into a ditch well off the pavement after the crash.

Belding Road was reopened around 9:15 a.m.
