CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. — When a man with a 5-6 inch long knife robbed the Family Video in Cedar Springs, it marked the third time someone was robbed in the town in 10 days.

Around 9:50 p.m. New Year’s Eve, the man demanded money at the video store at 151 S. Main Street.

Before doing so, the man hung around the store until others in the store left. He then pulled a stocking with eye holes over his head and pulled the knife. He got away with some cash, but police didn’t say how much. He was last seen walking west on S. Main Street towards 2nd Street.

Police got help from a police dog unit from the Wyoming Police Department, and he was tracked to the area of 2nd Street and Beech Street.

The man’s description is close to that of the robber in two earlier robberies: white male with dark hair, about 30, 5’8″ and 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark coat.

The earlier robberies were on December 22 at the Admiral station at 194 S. Main Street and on December 29 at the Kent Theater on N. Main Street.

Anyone who knows anything about the crimes should call the Cedar Springs Police Department at (616) 696-1311 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345 or 1-866-774-2345.
