Former East Grand Rapids and University of Michigan standout Luke Glendening scored a goal less than 3 minutes into the opening period Wednesday night in his debut with the Grand Rapids Griffins. “That was really all my line, I just went to the net and it was just laying there I didn’t have to do much”, Glendening said about the goal that gave the Griffins a 1-0 lead over the visiting Rochester Americans. The Griffins went on to beat Rochester, 4-2.
Glending was pleased with his performance just 2 days after being called up from Toledo. “I felt pretty good, obviously there are a lot of things I still need toi work on but for a first game I feel I worked hard I tried hard.”
Glendening, playing in front of the hometown crowd, understandably was nervous for the game but scoring early helps with that. “It’s a little bit of a weight off your shoulders, it was nice to get that and kind of ease the tension a little bit” Glendening said.
Luke’s 2nd game with the Griffins is schedled for Friday night
