WEST MICHIGAN — Great summer weather is in order for today across West Michigan. Expect a noticeable boost in temperatures as high pressure edges off to the east and a warmer and more humid air mass is allowed to work into the region. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for the majority of us with just a slight cooling effect right along the immediate lakeshore from a light southwest wind.
Sunshine is to be plentiful today but will mix with some thin high-level cirrus and fair weather cumulus clouds as we go along. The forecast remains rain-free for all of West Michigan.
Sunday looks to shake out hot and humid with temperatures topping out near 90 degrees. With the humidity added in, heat indices can reach well into the 90s on the back half of the weekend.
A cold front will be approaching late Sunday bringing us our next chance for appreciable rainfall. Sunday afternoon, however, likely remains rain-free with the main corridor of moisture not arriving until later in the evening or even the overnight period.
A heavy rain event is not anticipated into Monday but a half-inch or so of rainfall looks to be on the table.
Once this system passes by, we get in on more seasonable temperatures around 80 to the lower 80s for much of this coming workweek. Humidity will remain on the lower side as well. A warmer pattern likely starts to take shape next weekend and beyond.
