WEST MICHIGAN — GRAND RAPIDS — The forecast from FOX 17 Meteorologist Erik Kostrzewa: After a quiet night with seasonably warm temperatures, a strong southwest flow will bring a hot and humid Saturday to the area. There is also an Air Quality Alert for Saturday, as air quality is expected to go into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" range for Kent county and many of our lakeshore counties. A Heat advisory for heat indices around 100° tomorrow afternoon and evening is in effect for Berrien, Cass, St. Joseph and Branch counties. An approaching cold front could bring some storms to the area after midnight Saturday night and into Sunday. A few of those storms could be strong to severe with damaging wind and very heavy rain.
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and a bit muggy. Lows in the middle to upper 60s. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
