GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The rest of the season for the Grand Rapids Griffins is cancelled, thanks to action by the American Hockey League to cancel all games for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season and playoffs due to COVID-19.

“The league’s operational focus has turned toward actively preparing for the 2020-21 season,” said AHL president and CEO David Andrews in a release.

Details on how previous ticket purchases, including season tickets and FLEX tickets will be addressed in an email that will be sent to fans.

The decision by the league's board of governors affects 31 teams, including the Griffins.

As part of their response to community needs due to the coronavirus, the three professional teams in Grand Rapids and West Michigan Sports Commission created an initiative called OneTeamForWestMichigan.com.
