State police are investigating a fire that broke out at a postal office in Elmira.
On Oct. 13 around 11:07 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post and firefighters from the Elmira-Warner and Otsego County Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at the United States Post Office in Elmira.
The building was fully engulfed in smoke and flames, according to police. A preliminary investigation indicates the fire may have started on the interior of the building on the south side. Police say the origin appears to be from an electrical outlet.
The MSP 7th District Fire Marshal and an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
