HOLLAND, Mich. — A Hope College student has tested negative for COVID-19, according to the school.

Hope posted a message on its website saying a student who had reported potential symptoms and possible contact with a confirmed case of the disease was undergoing testing. On Wednesday, the school said the student tested negative.

Hope College is among several schools across the state and nation that have canceled in-person classes for an extended period. Classes on Thursday are canceled and will resume remotely on March 23 when students return from spring break.

All students have been asked to go home and remain there through April 13. The school hopes to resume face-to-face classes on April 14.

Updates to Hope's plan will be sent through emails and posted on the school's website.
