DEARBORN, Mich. — A teacher at a Dearborn elementary school has tested positive for COVID-19.
The district says Wayne County’s health department determined they weren’t contagious while in the building and students weren’t exposed to coronavirus. The person works at Whitmore-Bolles Elementary School.
As of 4:30 p.m. Friday, there have been 16 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered all K-12 schools to close from Monday to April 6 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Multiple districts across West Michigan decided to cancel classes on Friday instead of waiting.
On Friday, the Michigan High School Athletic Association also suspended all sports throughout the state due to coronavirus concerns.
