GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Humane Society of West Michigan just raised $156,923 through its Virtual Paws, Claws & Corks.

The event's online auction started on April 8 at 7 p.m. and ended on April 10 at 9 p.m.

It featured more than 200 packages, including several from West Michigan restaurants.

The online auction drew $46,064, and the Humane Society raised $110,859 through donations and sponsors, according to Megan Ellinger, event coordinator, Humane Society of West Michigan.

The nonprofit's goal was $200,000.

"So we are hoping people will consider donating specifically to our Fund the Mission portion of the event," Ellinger said.

"We would really love to be able to up that amount."

Pet Supplies Plus is also matching every donation to the Fund the Mission campaign up to $10,000.
