Two Dowagiac houses shot at in separate drive-bys

DOWAGIAC, Mich. — Dowagiac Police are investigating two separate drive-by shootings that occurred within the city over the weekend.

Early Saturday evening., Dowagiac Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of James St.

Officers were advised that someone had driven by and shot several times into a residence there. Officers located evidence that the residence was shot.

Witnesses advised that several shots were fired at the residence by unknown vehicles from the street. The residence was occupied by three people who were not injured.

Sunday morning around 2:30 a.m., Dowagiac Police were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Maple St.

Officers were advised that several shots were fired at the residence and once again were able to locate evidence that the residence was shot.

At the time of the shooting there were four people inside of the residence and none were injured during this incident.

These incidents remain under investigation at this time. Dowagiac Police believe that both incidents may be related and these do not appear to be random acts.
