Suspect sought after armed robbery at Van Buren County grocery

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — The Michigan State Police Paw Paw Post is currently investigating an armed robbery at a grocery store Saturday.

On Saturday, troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Midway Grocery, located at 57901 M-51 near Decatur in Hamilton Township. Upon arriving at the scene, an employee told them that a Hispanic man in his 30s had robbed the store at gunpoint.

Surveillance footage from the store shows a Hispanic man wearing a dark colored hooded jacket, dark colored pants, gray shoes, gray gloves and a light-colored bandana covering his face entering the store and threatening the employee with a handgun. The suspect is seen taking cash from the till and a bottle of wine from the counter. The suspect then fled southbound from the store.

The suspect has not been apprehended. A surveillance picture from the store accompanies this story.

MSP troopers were assisted at the scene by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, the Decatur Police Department and the Pokagon Tribal Police Department.
