ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 24-year-old Texas man has been arrested after he robbed a gas station with a pistol.

At almost 1 a.m. Friday morning, officers reacted to a report of an armed robbery happening at a Citgo Gas Station at 3176 Niles Road. They obtained security footage and saw that a lone suspect entered wearing gloves, leaving a note of instructions to empty the cash register, and brandished a semi-automatic pistol. The suspect then collected and left with an undisclosed amount of money, without causing any injuries.

Shortly after, police found a vehicle matching the description of the Dodge Charger involved with the robbery. Several agencies were involved in chasing the vehicle down I-94 into Mattawan. The man then got out his vehicle and ran on foot.

Officers managed to arrest the 24-year-old a short time later, also finding a weapon they believe was involved as well as the money that was stolen. The man is currently behind bars at Berrien County Jail on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

His name will not be made public until after court arraignment. Four police agencies were involved with this incident.
