BANGOR, Mich. — A large house fire in the city of Bangor Sunday afternoon left one woman dead.

Bangor Community Fire Department was the first of seven fire departments who responded to a multiple-alarm residential fire just after 5 p.m. at 20 Cass Street.

Upon arrival, the house was fully involved in flames and mutual aid was requested.

The woman in the dwelling was trapped inside, and died in the fire.

Mutual aid was provided by the State Fire Marshal, the Van Buren County medical examiner, and firefighters from Columbia, Covert, Hartford, Lawrence, Watervliet and South Haven.

The temperature at the time was 94 degrees causing the firefighters to be rotated in-and-out of the fire. There were no injuries reported.

The Bangor Police Department and State Police are still on scene, as the incident is under investigation.
