OVID TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A semi-truck hauling nitric acid caught fire while driving on I-69 Friday morning in Branch County.

The truck was hauling two trailers while going north on I-69 in Ovid Township, south of Coldwater, when the rear trailer brakes caught fire and engulfed the trailer.

All northbound lanes were shut down while crews worked to put out the fire. A hazmat team was also called to the scene to clean up the nitric acid.
