GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A semi overturned in a gravel mine Wednesday morning in Gaines Township after a frozen load broke loose and shifted, according to the Dutton Fire Department.
It happened in the south end of the township during a slippery morning commute.
The driver was able to get out of the semi on his own, but suffered several injuries.
They were treated on scene and turned over to AMR.
Deputies from the Kent County Sheriff’s Office were also on scene.
Road conditions did inhibit the response “a little,” the Dutton Fire Department said.
“Take your time and give yourself a little extra room this morning – leave a bit earlier than normal if you can,” the department said. “The road commission is diligently working, but the roads are quite slippery.”
