BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Monday night, Battle Creek Police identified a person of interest in the double homicide at Silver Star Apartments.

Battle Creek Police identified the person of interest as an acquaintance of victims Fred Bissel, 62, and Jason Dush, 41, who were found dead at the complex at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday by a third Silver Star resident.

While the cause of death is still pending, it appears both men were stabbed, as police found multiple knives during the investigation.

The person of interest already was in custody, on unrelated charges, in another location.

This is the only person of interest in this case, and police do not believe there are additional threats to the community. Police do not know the motive in this case.
