GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — All local Social Security offices are closed to the public starting Tuesday.
Officials say closing the offices protects the population they serve: older Americans and people with underlying medical conditions.
While the offices will be closed from in-person visits, services will still be available for those who need them. People who have business with Social Security can call their local office or go through the department’s website.
A timeline to reopen for the public has not yet been set.
