GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Scholarships to Davenport University are available to veterans who work for nearly 400 companies and agencies in Michigan thanks to a partnership between the school and the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.
The benefit is available to more than 30,000 veterans who work for those businesses and agencies that have been named veteran-friendly employers.
Davenport has been designated a veteran-friendly school by the MVAA.
MVAA Director Zaneta Adams called the partnership a great example of how our Veteran-Friendly Schools and Veteran-Friendly Employers can come together to enhance the lives of Michigan workers.” Adams noted the program supports Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s
Sixty by 30 Goal of a skill certificate or college degree for 60% of working-age adults in the state by 2030.
The size of the scholarships available depends the ranking of an employer in the program. Bronze level employers offer $2,500 scholarships; Silver level employers offer $4,500 scholarships; Gold level employers offer what are called “custom” offerings that add benefits to the $4,500 Silver level scholarship.
