SIDNEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man has surrendered to Michigan State Police after a standoff that started Thursday morning.

Troopers were sent around 8:45 a.m. to a home on Miller Road north of Muskrat Road in Sidney Township, northeast of Greenville to try to arrest a 47-year-old Ionia man. MSP said he has outstanding warrants for taking a weapon into a prison, home invasion and felony firearm.

Once the suspect saw police, he went back to the home, barricaded himself inside, indicated he may be harmed and might hurt himself or police, MSP said. Around 4 p.m., the suspect surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.
